Perspectives on how to conduct responsible anti-human trafficking research in operations and analytics

Human trafficking, the commercial exploitation of individuals, is a gross violation human rights; harming societies, economies, health and development. The related disciplines Operations Research (OR) Analytics are uniquely positioned to support trafficking prevention intervention efforts by efficiently evaluating plethora decision alternatives providing quantitative, actionable insights. As operations analytical in counter-trafficking field emerge, it imperative grasp subtle, yet distinctive, nuances associated with trafficking. This paper intended inform those practitioners working fields highlighting key features activity. We grouped ten themes around two broad categories: (1) representation (2) consideration survivors communities. These insights derived from our collective experience this area substantiated domain expertise. Based on these areas, we then suggest avenues for future work.
